This was calculated through some pretty basic testing, based on no-crit, same build, same spellpower, spamming a spell for long periods of time. Some testing a long time ago suggested that there was a 10% loss in overall healing and dps, between 350 ping and 100 ping. However, there is a little bit lost in cast times. Casting speed was a fixed value, not tied to animation speed. One reason I played Ascension, and WoW in general, was that of the gcd. So the quicker the animation, the quicker information gets sent to and from the server, the quicker the casting and ability speed. This is because on Archeage the ability speed is tied to the animation speed. My constant 300 ping compared to their 70 or so was about a 25-30 % dps difference. I teamed with someone and had the same attack power as them, and tested using the same ability. Recently I played Archeage and tested ping’s effect on performance. But how true is this statement? Does it play that much a part of performance? Does it impact the game by that much and by how much? I used to joke the biggest improvement I could make to my builds is to move to Europe. This is part suggestion, but also a part awareness for those in the development team in regards to this topic.
